Our trip to Spokane was GREAT but way too short, as always! Mason had a bit of a hard time on the drive over late Friday afternoon. He was still pretty good in comparison to some toddlers in the fact he didn't scream and throw things for two hours straight or anything, but he was not down with being strapped into his car seat for the 4.5 hour drive either! We stopped for a short break in Ellensburg to let us all stretch our legs and walk around for a little bit. Since it was dark for the last two hours, it was a little harder to keep him entertained. He couldn't read his books, or look out the window, etc. We're saving up to get a nice DVD system installed in the Acura, but I think I'll look into a cheaper version that slips over the headrest in the mean time. He's definitely at the age where one would be NICE!
Saturday we took Mason bowling, which he absolutely loves to do! He was SOOO excited to go, it was all he talked about. After much explaining that he needed to nap before we could go, and him fighting sleep to the bitter end, he finally passed out (fist picture above). His eyes weren't even all the way open when we woke up and muttered "balls?" - which means bowling ;o)
Needless to say, all the bumpers and light weight bowling balls were being used by birthday parties (which they neglected to tell us about when we called ahead) so Mason wasn't able to do it "all him self" and lost interest pretty fast. He still had fun and it was nice for everyone to spend the time out together.
Saturday night we had my Grandpa and Grandma over for a wonderful dinner. My dad grilled some amazing filet' steaks marinated in Yoshida sauce, and my mom made her very yummy twice baked potatoes. There were two different kinds of salads, greens beans, and rolls. As usual, they spoiled us with a feast! Sunday we relaxed with breakfast, while Mason and grandpa and grandma played "soccer" outside in the back yard. Mason kicked and chased the ball all over the place. Grandma chased him, and he chased and teased the dogs with the ball. Haus got left home with a sitter, but the two smaller dogs, Zoey and Calli, enjoyed running around with him. We got packed up and hit the road for home in the early afternoon. Mason was his usual traveling self, and was such a perfect little boy the whole way home .... Much better :o)
Well, I guess that's all for now. We have a few good pics from the trip. Here are some, more to follow soon!
