New Shelby Custom Mustang - not ours unfortunately, but our family friend (Mike's) and our boat neighbor! Not too shabby -

Look how tiny he is compared to Eric's hand!!!!
Sorry, it's been a busy, but wonderful couple of weeks!
Spokane was so great! The weather for the lake was beautiful and our first try of sleeping with both kids overnight on the boat went surprisingly well. I was the only one who didn't sleep well given my bunk mate, Mason, prefers to sleep horizontal in any bed. I awoke to a foot or two in my ribs or face and he when his feet weren't near my upper body, I'd catch a flailing elbow or hand to the head - tee hee. It's how he's always slept. He actually sleeps quite soundly that way, but good luck to anyone who shares his sleeping quarters. He saw some older kids fishing off the dock and was enthralled with it. Auntie Annie bought him his own fishing pole at Cabellas later in the week (he was SOOO excited), we're on the lookout for a tackle box and some basics before we head back to the lake the first of August, and he'll be set for his first fishing experience with Grandpa Pat. It should prove quite interesting. I'm pretty sure he'll either throw the pole into the lake while trying to cast, or the first time he actually gets a bite, he'll let go of the pole with a start and drop it in the lake - haha! We'll be sure to have the video going for that! Grandpa and him already practiced casting with the rubber caster in the backyard and he's quite good, but we'll see once it's for real and there's a hook on the end. I'm not too thrilled about that part - I think I'll also pick up the 'emergency hook removal kit' I saw at Cabellas - yikes! Okay, I'll stop letting my mind wonder on that thought and move onto the next story.....
The rest of the week was pretty relaxing compared to our usual visits. We kept busy every day with meeting at least one family member or friend play and catch up, but still had every afternoon and evening to spend with my mom and dad. The drive both ways was fairly smooth as well. Both the kids are champs at being stuck in the car for 5 hours, and definitely got extra props for not freaking out too much on mommy, especially since we were without daddy for help. We got back on Saturday and enjoyed a pretty quiet, but lovely Father's Day with John and joined his family for dinner that night.
Which brings me to one of the most hectic, but wonderful, Monday's we've had in a long time! Denise (John's mom) had been dealing with a health condition involving her heart for a long time. She had tried to control it with medication but experienced her usual complications with meds. She was tired all the time, and I swear if there is a side effect possible, she had it - poor thing. So she finally elected to have a surgery to fix the issue, hopefully once and for all. It was through the groin and a shock is given in certain areas of the heart to fix the fault. She did exceptionally well. It could have been a four hour procedure and she was done in less than two. But before she even went in for the surgery, we all had a nice little surprise. While Stacy was with her mom (and other family members) at Everett Providence pre-surgery, her water broke!!!!! She was 35 and a half weeks, so it was definitely a shock to everyone. She wasn't having contractions prior, nor right after, so after everyone could speak again, she decided her dad would stay with her mom and she could drive herself home to pick up Eric, pack a bag, and get to Evergreen hospital. I cancelled Peyton's therapy appointment, and took Mason to Jennie's. Peyton and I went to Evergreen to be with Stacy and Eric, and John went to be with his mom and dad. Stacy did really well. She waiting until almost 6CM before getting her epidural. They planned on putting her on pittosin as well so the labor wouldn't slow, but she didn't need it. Less than an hour later, she was at 9 & 1/2 and they cleared the room so the doctor and nic unit doctors to prep her and the room for delivery. I stayed with Stacy and Eric for a while, while John was with his mom and dad. Right as the pushing began it was time to put the kids to bed, so John came to Evergreen for a shift change while I went home to put the kids to bed. Denise was released from the hospital and was cleared to go be with Stacy instead of going home to rest. I guess they figured she was going to another hospital so if anything happened she was good - haha! So while I missed the big event, all of Stacy's immediate family was present and accounted for at 8:19PM when baby Beckett Eric Hansen arrived at 6lbs 14oz and 19 inches long! Since he's had some issues with losing a bit too much weight and had daily trips to the hospital to make sure his high jaundice levels were in check, but that all seems to be stabilizing now and for being so early he doing exceptionally well. While waiting for Stacy's milk to come in, they had to supplement with formula through a feeding tube and a finger or her breast, which was quite a process but they toughed it out since he was latching so well. She was pumping like crazy in between his feedings for about two days to try and get her milk in quicker. Just in time, her milk came in and he's been feeding GREAT! At just over and a half old, he's already up to 6lbs 16oz which is actually ahead of the curve for weight gain recovery and his age now - yay! Stacy and Eric are tired and sleep deprived as expected with the new little one. He's even a little more needy on the side of being held and having that constant contact being preemie than a normal newborn but that's slowly progressing too.
Most of you have already seen these pictures on Face book, but here are a couple pictures of Beckett and from our Spokane trip.
